Part of a letter regarding Pelly returning to England on leave and Edwards being temporarily in charge until the Government of India appoint someone to officially to take over during Pelly's absence and the likelihood this will be Doctor Wiliam Henry Colvill or Colonel Herbert Disbrowe.
The letter goes on to discuss arrangements for caring for Pelly's kit during his absence and the sale of his wine and stores and the purchase and sale of some horses.
There appears to be at least one folio missing from the letter as it ends abruptly mid-sentence and without Edwards signature.
