Letter enclosing the articles of agreement for crew members which is for Bombay to the Persian Gulf and back to Bombay for a period of not more than three months and informing Edwards that Goolam Ali [Ghulam 'Ali] has not been restrained and has been seen and questioned by the Residency moonshee [munshi].
The letter goes on to discuss the runaway slaves who the Captain believes were on board at some time in Busreh [Basra] but that a thorough search of the vessel at Fao [Faw] did not find any trace of them and that he had telegraphed Mr Johnston, Vice-Consul at Busreh regarding the search at Fao and had attempted to satisfy the owner of the slaves that they were not on board the Euphrates.
