- Scope & Content:
- The letter is a covering letter, enclosing extracts from paragraphs 36 and 37 from a despatch from the Honourable the Court of Directors, dated 3 November 1852. Paragraph 36 states that the Directors regret the state of Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel Hennell's health, depriving the Government of his valuable services. Paragraph 37 states that affairs in the Persian Gulf are 'highly satisfactory', but requests information on what redress has been made from the Sheikh Humud ben Mujdel of Junnah in relation to his recent acts of plunder.
