The letter concerns the incident of piracy committed by a Ra's al-Khaymah vessel against a Zanzibar vessel in early 1852. Goldsmid requests that all details on the incident be sent to the Persian Gulf Resident Arnold Kemball so that he may make a 'precise demand' for compensation.
