Letter enclosing a copy of the novella The Battle of Dorking and regarding the public's fascination with the Tichborne case.
The letter also gives news of the children including an exhibition of fans which one of her daughters was invited to exhibit at (the daughter's fan being a representation of the tales of William Shakespeare).
Further news is given of various mutual friends who have been 'in town' (London) including the Eyres, Dawes, Devereaux and Godfrey Clerks and also discussing the appointment of Sir Henry Rawlinson as President of the Royal Geographical Society.
