Letter from George Edward Russell, Collector at Musulipatam [Machilipatnam] to the Resident at Bushire

The letter is enclosing copies of the following items:
1. Letter from George Edward Russell to the Board of Revenue at Fort St George, dated 7 April 1818, discussing the pension of Jaffer Ali Khan [Ja‘afar ‘Alī Khān]; it sets out his accounts with the government in detail and suggests how they be divided up between his widows and children.
2. Letter from John Hanbury, Secretary to the Board of Revenue, to George Edward Russell, dated 4 November 1814, which in turn encloses the following item (3):
3. Copy of a letter from John Hanbury to the Chief Secretary of Government, dated 27 October 1814, recommending that Jaffer Ally Khan should appoint an agent to receive his pension. It also encloses the following six items (4-9):
4. Letter from D Hill, John Hanbury and George Edward Russell to the Board of Revenue, dated 8 November 1814, agreeing that Jaffer Ally Khan should appoint a private agent instead of the Collector of Masulipatam to receive his pension.
5. Extract of a letter from the Secretary to Government to the Civil Auditor, dated 9 August 1818, authorising payment to Jaffer Ally Khan during his stay in Persia.
6. Extract of a letter from the Civil Auditor to the Collector at Masulipatam, dated 18 July 1816, reporting that Jaffer Ally Khan's last pension installment was paid twice.
7. Extract of a letter from the Collector at Masulipatam to the Civil Auditor, dated 3 August [no year], reporting that Jaffer Ally Khan owns no property in the district and that the Collector is currently holding his pension installment.
8. Extract of a letter from the Secretary to Government to W Malcolm, acting Collector at Masulipatam, dated 28 February 1795, regarding the pension due to the deceased Mobarruck u Dowlah [Mubārak al-Dawlah]; it states the proportions to be paid to the surviving family if there is any.
9. Translation of a legal question and answer, undated, clarifying the situation of a deceased man leaving behind a specific number of wives, daughters and sons according to Islamic law.
