The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a title page, an extract from the Narrative, No.22, dated 27th December 1859, and a table of contents:
- Coll 1, Reports on the Public Charities assisted by Government in several of the districts under the Bengal Presidency, for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 1858. Consists of reports from the Commissioners of Burdwan, Nuddea, Patna, Rajshahye [Rajshahi], Bhaugulpore [Bhagalpur], Arracan [Arakan], Cuttack, Chittagong, Dacca, and Chota Nagpore.
- Coll 2, Monthly Returns of patients in the Lunatic Asylum at Bhowanipore, for the months of December 1858, and January and February 1859.
- Coll 3, Annual Returns (European and Native) of public patients treated at the Insane Asylums at Bhowanipore and Dullunda, from 1st January to 31st December 1858.
- Coll 4, Papers regarding the expenditure of the Lunatic Asylum at Bhowanipore during 1858, and the large saving effected during the previous three years by Dr T Cantor, Superintendent of the Asylum, January to December 1859.
- Coll 5, Printed copy of the 'Rules, established by Government, for the control and management of the Asylum at Bhowanipore, for European and Country-born insane persons' (Calcutta, 1859), with correspondence relating to the officers appointed as Visitors of the Asylum.
- Coll 6, Correspondence relating to the nature and extent of the duties and responsibilities of the Inspector-General of Jails in his capacity of Visitor of Lunatic Asylums, under Section II., Act XXXVI of 1858, November 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 7, Sanction for the continuance for another year of the Government donation to the District Charitable Society of 1,200 rupees per mensem, 1859.
- Coll 8, Report from the Superintendent of the Bhowanipore Asylum upon the working of the system of supplying the Asylum with articles of diet through a private contractor, 1859.
- Coll 9, Correspondence on the subject of the decision of Government regarding its liability to bear the expenses of a patient in the Lunatic Asylum at Bhowanipore, sent there by the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, October 1858 to December 1859. The correspondence includes information on the case of Joseph Brown, a fireman formerly employed on the P&O steamer Bentinck, and also refers to T Middleton, a Steward of the P&O Company's service under treatment in the Asylum.
- Coll 10, Names of the gentlemen who had been appointed Members of Committees of Charitable Dispensaries and Hospitals during the 1st quarter of 1859.
- Coll 11, Account Current of the Prosunnonath [Prosonath] Fund Committee for the 4th quarter of 1858, and a statement of disbursements for the same period on account of the Dispensary at Bauleah [Banleah] and the School and Dispensary at Natore supported by that Fund.
- Coll 12, Correspondence regarding the proposal from the Cantonment Joint Magistrate of Dinapore for the establishment of a Hospital and Dispensary at that station, July 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 13, Correspondence regarding the purchase of clothing at a cost of 40 rupees for the use of indigent pilgrims admitted into the Hospital at Puri, 1859.
- Coll 14, Correspondence giving sanction to the erection of a house for the accommodation of Baboo Monohur Mookerjee, Sub-Assistant Surgeon, Gya Pilgrim Hospital, December 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 15, Application for the aid of Government in support of a Dispensary proposed to be established at Balasore not complied with, under the rules in force, 1859.
- Coll 16, Correspondence relating to the construction of a building for a Charitable Hospital and Dispensary at Bhuddruck [Bhadrak], December 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 17, Correspondence regarding the opening of a Dispensary at Khardah under the direction of Dr Robert Pringle, Civil Assistant Surgeon of Cuttack, February 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 18, Correspondence regarding an explanation as to why the Dispensary at Jessore had not been visited for a period of ten years, August 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 19, Reduction effected in the Establishment of the Sukeas' Street Dispensary in consequence of the abolition of the practice of mesmerism, July 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 20, Correspondence regarding a house engaged as a temporary smallpox hospital for the native troops in Garrison at Fort William at 200 rupees per mensem, February to December 1859.
- Coll 21, The maximum rate of diet for European and Native patients in the Medical College Hospital fixed, respectively, at 5 and 2 annas per diem, 1859.
- Coll 22, Correspondence regarding Callachand Dey, Sub-Assistant Surgeon, having resigned the Service, and there being no means of recovering the sum of 100 rupees advanced to him by the Superintendent of Tea Culture in Assam, December 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 23, Dismissal of Hurry Doss Dey, a Supernumerary Bengali Class Native Doctor, for having absconded from the Sepoy Ward of the General Hospital where he had been doing duty, December 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 24, Sanction given to the employment of a Native Doctor on 25 rupees a month, to be stationed at Kedgeree for the purpose of affording medical aid to the Officers and Establishment of the Post Office and Telegraph Department at that Station, August 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 25, Appointment of R Pringle as a separate Civil Assistant Surgeon for Cuttack, August 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 26, Correspondence relating to the establishment of a Zemindary Dak between Sahebgunge [Sahibganj], Godda and Bhaugulpore [Bhagalpur], for the purpose of carrying the letters to and from the Deputy Commissioner at Sahibganj, December 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 27, Plunder of the Calcutta Dak Banghy Despatch of the 7th January 1859 at Mamoodpore.
- Coll 28, Robbery of a Dak Banghy Despatch on the night of the 30th December 1858 at between Turtipore and Malda.
- Coll 29, Papers giving sanction to the sum of 272 rupees and 4 annas to be written off the books of the Principal Assistant Commissioner at Akyab, and debited to the French Exhibition, 1859.
- Coll 30, Explanation by T C Pennington, Sudder Ameen and Munsiff of Dacca, regarding the debt due by him to Messrs. Dykes and Co., Coach Builders, August 1858 to December 1859.
- Coll 31, Papers giving exemption to the Chowdries who are paid by Commission in the District of Darjeeling from the operation of the rule under which persons in Government employ are prohibited from taking lands within the jurisdiction in which they are employed, March to December 1859.
