The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a title page, an extract from the Narrative, No.2, dated 23rd January 1860, and a table of contents:
- Coll 1, Extracts from the Periodical Reports of the Commissioners of Circuit, on the Public Charities assisted by Government in their respective Divisions, for the 4th quarter of 1858 and the 1st quarter of 1859. Consists of extracts from the reports of the Commissioners of Nuddea, Assam, Chittagong, Arracan [Arakan], Chota Nagpore, Dacca, and Bhaugulpore [Bhagalpur].
- Coll 2, Monthly Returns of patients in the Lunatic Asylum at Bhowanipore for the months of March, April and May 1859.
- Coll 3, Accounts and Statements relating to the Calcutta Native Hospital and its dependent Dispensaries for the year 1858.
- Coll 4, Account Current of the Funds of the Prosunnonath [Prosonath] Committee at Rajshahye [Rajshahi], together with Statements of Stock and Government Securities belonging to the Fund, for the year 1858, and also those for the 1st quarter of 1859, and a statement of disbursements for the 1st quarter of 1859 on account of the Dispensary at Bauleah [Banleah] and the School and Dispensary at Natore.
- Coll 5, Annual Report of the Lunatic Asylum at Dacca for the year 1858. The report contains a casualty list and table of post mortem examinations for 1859 giving details of the patients who had died during the year.
- Coll 6, Correspondence regarding the appointment of a Resident Surgeon in place of the Apothecary and Superintendent at the Dispensaries at Gurranhatta and Park Street in Calcutta, April 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 7, Appointment of H T Prinsep to be a Member of the Charitable Hospital and Dispensary at Tumlook, March 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 8, Papers relating to certain alterations in the Establishment of the Mitford Hospital at Dacca, with a view of placing that Institution on a more efficient footing, March 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 9, Papers relating to a proposal for certain alterations in the Establishment of the Dacca Lunatic Asylum, involving an additional expense of 43 rupees per mensem, September 1858 to January 1860.
- Coll 10, Correspondence regarding the ground rent of the piece of land with the bungalow thereon given by the Maharajah of Hutwa for the use of the Public Library at Sarun being paid from the Funds of that Institution, April 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 11, Correspondence regarding the contribution of 5,000 rupees by Mohun Bhuggut, a Merchant in Cuttack, for charitable purposes, May 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 12, Promotion of Sub-Assistant Surgeon Hurronoth Mitter of the Vaccine Department, Calcutta, from the 2nd to the 1st grade of Sub-Assistant Surgeons, May 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 13, Correspondence regarding Baboo Ramkinno Dutt, Native Doctor at Tippera, appointed to the charge of the Chittagong Dispensary and allowed to draw 60 rupees as regular pay and 40 rupees as special allowance, March 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 14, Correspondence relating to a proposal for dispensing with the services of the Sub-Assistant Surgeon of Pooree [Puri], and of making over the entire medical charge of the Pilgrim Hospital to the Civil Surgeon of that Station, July 1857 to January 1860.
- Coll 15, Petition from the native inhabitants of Pooree [Puri] praying that the services of the Sub-Assistant Surgeon might be retained at that Station, February 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 16, Appointment of a Native Doctor to the charge of the Charitable Hospital at Lohardugga [Lohardaga], November 1858 to January 1860. Includes a Return of Patients treated in the Charitable Dispensary at Ranchi, in Chota Nagpore from 1st January to 31st December 1858.
- Coll 17, Correspondence regarding the dismissal from the Service of Bengali Class Native Doctor Denoonath Roy, having declined to join his appointment at the Charity Hospital and Dispensary at Lohardaga, April 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 18, Annual Report of the Eye Infirmary attached to the Medical College Hospital, Calcutta, for the year ending the 31st March 1859.
- Coll 19, Correspondence regarding sanction for the appointment of a newly arrived Assistant Surgeon to the office of House Surgeon at the Medical College Hospital, Service in this capacity not to exempt the officer from the requisite military duty, October 1857 to January 1860.
- Coll 20, Correspondence relating to the resignation from the Public Service of Sub-Assistant Surgeon Alexander Solomon, House Surgeon of the Female Ward of the Medical College Hospital, Calcutta, September 1858 to January 1860.
- Coll 21, Correspondence relating to J H R Carnac, an unpassed Civil Servant, who had been permitted to proceed to Cuttack for the purpose of prosecuting his studies there under the superintendence of Public Officers, May 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 22, Correspondence regarding Assistants being allowed to pass their examination by instalments, but not to be vested with the higher powers till they had passed in the whole, December 1858 to January 1860. The correspondence details the case of H B Simson.
- Coll 23, Report of the result of the examination of Junior Civilians and others held in April 1859, with related correspondence. The report lists the names of those who sat examinations, with their marks in each of the subjects they were examined on.
- Coll 24, Correspondence regarding the special examination of A Smith, Assistant at Chumparun [Champaran], who had been prevented from attending the examination held in April 1859 in consequence of having been employed on special duty with Colonel Kelly's Field Force, March 1859 to January 1860.
- Coll 25, Circular, from A R Young, Secretary to the Government of Bengal, dated 29th June 1859, to all Assistants who had not passed by the 2nd Standard, showing the importance of passing early.
