Letter regarding the need for Highflyer to be used to blockade the ports of Katiff [al-Qatif] and Ojair [Uqair] and detailing the fort on the island of Demaun [Darin] which is at the entrance to Katiff and which an attack on would require the use of boats owing to shallow shoals there.
The letter recommends that Highflyer proceed to Bassidore for coal and then to Lingah [Bandar-e-Lengeh] where a pilot could be picked up before proceeding to Bahrein and then travelling along the coast past Debay [Dubai], Shargah [Sharjah] and Rass-ool-Khaimah [Ra's al Khaimah] where the demonstration of a British vessel of war in the coastal waters would potentially have an excellent effect.
