The letter gives notice that instructions will soon come from Bussora regarding plant specimens needed for a new botanical garden at Bengal.
An extract of a Company command, dated 7 April 1768, is included. It is an order for all Company settlements to give details of all exports from their respective regions in order to improve trade along the Malabar Coast. Included is a table showing purchases of 'Drugs' and pepper by the English companies, English individuals, the French, the Dutch, and the Danes.
