The letter encloses the following:
- a copy of a letter from William Bruere, Public Department at the Council Chamber in Bengal, to Samuel Manesty, dated 14 Februuary 1787;
- an extract of a letter from Charles Cornwallis, the Governor General of the Presidency of Fort William, to the Presidency of Bombay, dated 12 March 1787;
- a copy of a letter from Samuel Manesty to the Charles Cornwallis, dated 12 Aug 1787.
All documents are concerned with the collecting of botanical samples for a new botanical garden in Bengal, including instructions for what plants are required from the Persian Gulf region, and the expertise needed for their cultivation.
