The collection consists of the following small collections of papers:
- Coll 1, Correspondence regarding the money savings of the emigrant labourers returned from Trinidad by the ship Eveline. Includes a list of labourers returning to Calcutta by the Eveline with the amount of Dollars deposited by each with the Surgeon Superintendent and the amount of Sterling money deposited by each in the Treasury of Trinidad; and a copy of the Public letter from the Secretary to the Government of India to the Under Secretary of State for India, No.16 of 1859, dated 3 March 1859.
- Coll 2, Correspondence regarding the proposed scheme of emigration on private account from Bombay to British Guiana.
- Coll 3, Further correspondence on the subject of emigration on private account to Mauritius.
- Coll 4, Further correspondence on the subject of the Rules regarding emigration of Native labourers from the Bombay Presidency.
- Coll 5, Returns of emigrants who had proceeded to and returned from Mauritius and the West Indies from 1st May 1857 to 30th April 1859, with related correspondence including a copy of the Bengal Secretary's letter to the Under Secretary of State for India, No.46 of 1859, dated 1 June 1859.
