383: Extracts from a Narrative of the Proceedings of the Government of the North Western Provinces, in the General Department, for the 3rd Quarter of 1858

The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a cover sheet, a table of contents, and an extract from the Narrative, dated 30th June 1859:
- Coll 1, correspondence regarding the despatch to the Court of Directors of the East India Company of certain objects of antiquity recovered from the ruins of Sarnath, June 1858 to June 1859. Includes a list of the articles dug up at Sarnath, the ancient Buddhist holy ground near Benares, under the Superintendence of Professor F E Hall, and left by him, on his departure for Ajmere in June 1855, under the Charge of F B Gubbins, Commissioner of the Benares Division.
- Coll 2, Complaint by Rev Lewis regarding the publication in the Mofussilite Newspaper of the private accounts of the Roman Catholic institutions at Agra under his charge, March 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 3, Correspondence regarding an Establishment for the Church built at Indore by Sir Robert Hamilton, July 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 4, Allowance of 100 rupees per mensem each to two members of the Church Missionary Society for officiating at Cawnpore and Benares during the absence of the Chaplains of those stations, September 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 5, Repairs to the Christian cemetery at Goruckpoor [Gorakhpur], September 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 6, Promotion of Sub Assistant Surgeon Kalee Doss Nundee, attached to the Charitable Dispensary at Mirzapur, February 1850 to June 1859.
- Coll 7, Payment of rent for the occupation of the Church Mission School at Gorakhpur, used by Government as a hospital for European troops, July 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 8, Disbursement of 2,500 rupees for anatomical models ordered from England for the Agra Medical School, July 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 9, Proposed enlargement of the Medical School attached to the Thomason Hospital at Agra, July 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 10, Correspondence regarding suggestions for meeting increased demand for Military Native doctors, and the entertainment of a larger number of students in the Agra Medical School, June 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 11, Correspondence regarding the admission of 28 new students into the Agra Medical School, and the disconnection of Dr Murray with the Institution in consequence of his promotion to the rank of Superintending Surgeon of the Agra Circle, August 1858 to June 1859. Includes a list of candidates for admission into the Medical School at Agra examined on the 21st August 1858.
- Coll 12, Refund of 3,868 rupees deposited in the Bareilly Treasury on account of the Dispensaries of that District and plundered on the outbreak of the Mutiny, September 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 13, Bills from the Superintendent of Vaccination of the Agra Division, the Agra Medical School, and the Commissary of Ordnance at Agra, passed during the 3rd Quarter of 1858. Includes pay abstracts listing the employees attached to the Agra Medical School for the months June to August 1858.
- Coll 14, Expenditure sanctioned for the supply of ice to the Depot Hospital at Futtehghur [Fatehgarh], and the issue of a circular to the Commissioners of Divisions regarding the provision of ice for hospitals of European Regiments, June 1858 to June 1859. Includes a report by A Ross, Judge of Farruckabad [Farrukhabad], on the affairs of the Fatehgarh ice concern, with certain propositions for the future management of the concern, dated 25th June 1858.
- Coll 15, Purchase of 300 copies of the new edition of the manual for the arrangement of Magisterial records written by Mr Cust, Commissioner and Superintendent of the Lahore Division, May 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 16, Entertainment of an Establishment of trained pilots for the Gogra River, June 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 17, Advance of 5,000 rupees for the construction of ice pits at Moradabad to ensure a supply of ice for the hospitals of the European troops at that station, August 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 18, Correspondence regarding disbursements on account of certain alterations made to one of the tombs in Sultan Khoosroos' Garden in Allahabad, and an annual offering at the tomb of Sultan Khoosroo [Khusrau], June 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 19, Entertainment of a Dak Establishment for the Mundlah [Mandla] District, August 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 20, Contract with Native ice sellers for the supply of ice to the European Hospitals at Bareilly, August 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 21, Grant of rewards for services rendered to Lieutenant Owen while proceeding in charge of a convoy towards General Frank's column, April 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 22, Advance of 4,000 rupees for the construction of new ice pits and fields at Allahabad, August 1858 to June 1859.
- Coll 23, Proposal to add the ground of a house, the confiscated property of Nana Sahib, to the Government garden at Cawnpore, September 1858 to June 1859.
