- Scope & Content:
- The letter is an acknowledgement of Kemball’s previous letter (folio 171) relating to the appointment of an agent by the underwriters of the late cargo vessel Centaur to retrieve its plundered cargo of indigo. Anderson writes that, as the matter relates to the underwriters of the Centaur alone, and hence is not Government business, the Government cannot authorise Kemball to take on any responsibility in the matter.
