- In this letter William Digges Latouche discusses the movement of French ships in the Gulf. He informs Edward Galley, Resident at Bushire, that the Mercury will not sail from Bussora [Basra] with Mr Sullivan, who arrived from Constantinople on 5 August, until either the French ships leave the Gulf or the ships from Bombay enter the Gulf.
