The circular is a reminder from Government that all Political Officers under the Supreme Government are required to submit to Government details of British relations with native states in their sphere of influence, by the end of 1853. The circular encloses a copy of circular no.345 of 1854 (folio 271) sent by J Dalrymple, Officiating Under Secretary to the Government, dated 16 January 1854. This second circular reiterates the request for information on relations between British Government and native states, with particular reference to the states of Rajpootana [Rājasthān].
