- Scope & Content:
- In this letter, received 8 November 1834, Charles Norris, Chief Secretary to Government, Bombay, includes a copy of a letter from the Resident, David Anderson Blane, dated 3 July 1834, writing from on board the Amherst at sea, reporting on the unfavourable state of the affairs of His Highness the Imaum [Imam, Sa‘īd bin Sulṭān Āl Sa‘īd] of Muskat [Muscat] and on the details of interviews between Blane and the Regents of Muskat in His Highness's absence. Norris goes on to repeat sentiments expressed in his letter, no. 347, dated 7 March 1834 (see folios 1-5), which stated that the Government should not interfere in the affairs of the Imaum's Government. Blane's letter follows on from this letter.
