The letter is informing the Bombay Government that Captain Hardy has relived Assistant Surgeon Mactavish from the charge of the Bushire Residency; it notes that Mr Mactavish has therefore returned to his station at Bussora [Basra].
It further mentions an incident of piracy committed near Mangalore by a Bahrani boat, reported by Lieutenant Tanner of the HC Cruizer Antelope.
