The letter relates to interim arrangements put in place during the revision of shipping laws. The author reports that vessels proceeding to the Persian Gulf no longer require licences from the Government of India. In addition, the commanders of vessels entering Arabian and Persian ports are requested to report arrivals, departures and any disputes with resident natives to the British political officers, in the absence of applicable laws.
