The letter discusses the danger of attack at Bushire. It accompanies several shipments and enclosures:
- a shipment of woollens, stationery, and wine;
- Benjamin Jervis' response to accusations by Bowyear of improper conduct while he was Resident at Bushire (not present);
- a copy of a sailing order addressed to Commodore Fountain Price, commander of the Defiance, dated 17 February 1767 (this is a mistake and should read 17 January 1767), instructing him to sail with the Sallamander to the Persian Gulf;
- a copy of a letter from Benjamin Jervis, dated 27 December 1766, discussing the purchase of raw silk from Ghilan [Gilan Province].
