The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a cover sheet, and an extract from the Narrative, dated 1st August (No.2) 1859:
- Coll 1, Transportation of 11 convicts from Madras, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 2, Letter from E A Blundell, Governor of the Straits Settlements, expressing his satisfaction at the state in which the jails and hospitals at Penang were kept, and at the manner in which the departments were regulated, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 3, Certificate of naturalisation granted to a Chinese Merchant at Penang named Chea Lang, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 4, Fears on the part of Captain Hilliard, Superintendent of Convicts at Penang, of a rising amongst the mutineer convicts, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 5, Certificate of naturalisation granted to a Chinese Merchant at Penang named Ho Hoke, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 6, Application from Khoo Sek Chuan, a Chinese Merchant, for a grant of waste land in Province Wellesley, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 7, Correspondence regarding the salary of the Convict Overseer at Penang, October 1857 to August 1859. Includes a list of articles manufactured and sold in the convict lines from the 1st January 1857 to the 31st December 1857.
- Coll 8, Account of the receipts and disbursements of the Municipal Fund at Penang for the year 1857, together with an estimate of the probable amount for the present year [1858].
- Coll 9, Petitions from eleven prisoners in Her Majesty's Jail at Penang praying for a pardon or the diminuation of their sentence, April 1857 to August 1859.
- Coll 10, Proceedings of a Medical Committee to report on the state of health of Henry Godbier, Assistant Apothecary at Province Wellesley, June 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 11, Admission of John Ashness as a Medical Apprentice to the General Hospital at Penang, March 1858 to August 1859.
