The letter and its enclosures relate to an incident in which a vessel despatched from the Honourable Company’s steam frigate Queen to Debai [Dubai], upon its return to the Queen from the town, was pelted with stones by forty men from the shore. The following enclosures are included with Kemball’s letter:
1. Letter no.78 of 1855 (folio 114) from Commodore R. Ethersey, Commanding Officer Persian Gulf Squadron, to Kemball, dated 29 July 1855. Ethersey’s letter itself encloses a letter (folios 115-16), addressed to him by Senior Lieutenant Adams, Commanding the Queen, to Ethersey, dated 5 July 1855. Adam’s letter is a report of his tour of the Arab coast, including the stone-pelting incident at Dubai;
2. Letter no.252 of 1855 (folio 117), Kemball’s reply to Ethersey, dated 30 July 1855.
