The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a cover sheet, a table of contents, and an extract from the Narrative.

- Coll 1, Periodical Reports of the Commissioners of Circuit on the public charities assisted by Government in their respective Divisions, May 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 2, Accounts and statements relating to the Calcutta Native Hospital and its dependant Dispensaries for the year 1857.
- Coll 3, Account Current of the Prosunnoth [Prosonath] Roy Fund for the year 1857, and a statement of disbursements on account of the charitable institutions supported by that Fund at Baula [Banleah] and Natore, for the 2nd quarter of 1858.
- Coll 4, Appointment of Members of Committees of the Charitable Dispensaries and Hospitals in the Lower Provinces during the 3rd quarter of 1858.
- Coll 5, Monthly Returns of patients in the Lunatic Asylum at Bhowanipore for the months of June, July and August 1858, and the Half-yearly Report of patients in the Insane Hospital of the 24 Parganas from the 1st January to 30th June 1858.
- Coll 6, Papers regarding an increase in the wages of the Bhistis attached to the Dullunda Insane Hospital as a temporary arrangement, July 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 7, Correspondence regarding the grant of an allowance of from 3 to 4 pice per diem for each inmate of the Dacca Insane Asylum, July 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 8, Correspondence showing that leave obtained under Medical Certificate could not be commuted retrospectively into privilege leave, June 1858 to August 1859. The correspondence concerns the case of Doyal Chund Bysack, Sub-Assistant Surgeon at the Ooterpara [Uttarpara] Charitable Dispensary.
- Coll 9, Papers regarding the available balance of the sum sanctioned from the Urnochutter Fund for the construction of a hospital at Balasore was to be re-credited to that Fund, August 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 10, Correspondence relating to an application for increase of pay preferred by Native Doctor Doyal Singh, attached to the charitable dispensary at Rungpore [Rangpur], November 1857 to August 1859.
- Coll 11, Papers regarding the revised Establishment for the Mitford Hospital at Dacca at a cost of 128 rupees per mensem, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 12, Correspondence regarding an increase to the pay of Gopaul Khatturee, an Apprentice attached to the Gya City Pilgrim Hospital and Government Dispensary, from 3 rupees to 4 rupees per mensem, August 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 13, Papers relating to unpassed Civil Servants who had been permitted to prosecute their studies in the Mofussil under the superintendence of Public Officers, July 1858 to August 1859. The papers concern the cases of R H Middlemass, C T Metcalfe, F G Millet, and W Kemble.
- Coll 14, Report of the Special Examination of R L Mangles and A Smith of the Civil Service, August 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 15, Papers regarding officers exempted from the last half-yearly examination of junior civilians and others held in October 1858, August 1858 to August 1859. The papers are concerned with the cases of J A Crawford, A Smith, J W Inman and Baboo Sudanundo Jacheek.
- Coll 16, Question asked by W Taylor, Judge of Mymensingh, as to whether a civilian on furlough in India would be at liberty to engage in any business or employment while availing himself of his furlough, May 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 17, Correspondence giving the approval of the Supreme Government to the proceedings for the relief of distressed ryots in the Districts which suffered from the innundation of 1856, September 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 18, Temporary appointment of Assistant Surgeon H R Daniell of the Shekawattee [Shekhawati] Battalion as Post Master of Sambalpur, May 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 19, Correspondence regarding the conversion of the Akbari Bungalow at Sooree [Suri] into a Dak Bungalow, July 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 20, Report by Dr W C B Eatwell, Principal of the Medical College, on an accident which occurred in the Medical College Hospital, by which a European patient lost his life by falling from one of the balconies, with correspondence relating to the measures proposed for preventing a recurrence of such accidents in future, July 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 21, Correspondence relating to the site selected for the proposed hospital at Howrah, and to the disposal of the old materials of the Jail walls, August 1857 to August 1859.
- Coll 22, Measures adopted for breaking up a system of relationship which existed amoung the Amlah of the Superintendent of Darjeeling, May 1857 to August 1859. Includes a list of those employed in the Establishment of the Superintendent of Darjeeling, with details of appointment, relationship to anyone else employed in the Establishment, private occupation or trade, and landed property or holdings.
- Coll 23, Correspondence regarding the authorisation for the discontinuance of the publication in the Bengali Government Gazette of the weekly statement showing the price of rice only, August 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 24, Government sanction for the entertainment of two additional Dak Runners, at 3 rupees each per mensem, for the Office of the Assistant Commissioner in the Heeranpore Division of the Sonthal [Santal] Parganas, April 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 25, Correspondence relating to the recovery of a debt stated to have been incurred by J Macleod, Deputy Collector of Sarun, June 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 26, Report from the Officiating Accountant, Government of Bengal, representing the difficulty experienced by his Establishment in the preparation of the Returns of the Post Office Department, in consequence of the introduction of the system under which the several Post Masters in Bengal were required to furnish their Monthly Cash Accounts to the Post Master General, in whose Office they were consolidated into a general return for submission to the Accountant, with related corresponence and proceedings, November 1854 to August 1859.
- Coll 27, Correspondence showing that Baboo Prosunno Coomar Mitter, Native Teacher of Medicine in the Medical College, who had been removed from his appointment on account of his insubordinate conduct towards the Principal of that Institution, had been reinstated upon his having expressed contrition for what he had done and upon the favourable representation of Dr Eatwell and the Director-General of the Medical Department, May 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 28, Correspondence relating to Government paper having been used by Messrs Samuel Smith & Co, Contractors for Government printing, for printing the Acts of the Legislative Council contrary to the terms of their Agreement, August 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 29, Request by the Committee of the Temporary Cholera Hospital for the services of one or two Sub-Assistant Surgeons, May 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 30, Papers showing that the privileges of naturalisation had been conferred, under Act XXX of 1852, upon John Pandeli Sagrandi, a Native of Syra in Greece, and a Member of the Firm of Ralli Brothers and Co, Merchants of Calcutta, May 1858 to August 1859.
- Coll 31, Request by J A Crawford, Superintendent of Stamps, to have a monthly credit of 1,000 rupees at the General Treasury, to enable him to meet the contingent disbursements and the Registry fees paid from his Office, July 1858 to August 1859.
