Letter from Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Ephraim Gerrish Stannus, Resident in the Persian Gulf to the Officer in Command of the Marine Battalion, Bombay

The letter encloses a roll and pay certificate for the guard detatchment of the Residency, which had been relieved and was proceeding by the Honourable Company's Cruiser (HCC) Antelope to rejoin the battalion at Bombay. Stannus testifies to the good conduct of the detatchment as a whole, and singles out two men who had acted as his orderlies.
The letter is followed by transcripts of two enclosures:
- statement of the property and arrears of a private in the Residency detachment, who had died on 14 August 1825, dated 30 April 1826;
- roll of men of the 1st Marine Battalion, 11th Regiment proceeding from Bushere [Bushire] to Bombay, with certificate that they had received their pay and provision for the month of April 1826, signed by Stannus and dated 30 April 1826.
