The letter is reporting on the outcome of a cruise by the HC Schooner Constance made 'in quest of pirates'. It details the proceedings of the Lieutenant's investigations at Lingah [Bandar-e-Lengeh], the island of Inderabia [Hendorābī, Jazīreh-ye], and the island of Keim [Kish].
The source of the investigation was the bagala Fayzal Kurrim of Bombay; it is noted that the boat was owned by the merchant Aga Hussain Aga bin Hajee, Nashim Narwajee of Bombay. The letter conveys details of its cargo, of its voyage from Bombay, of its encounter with 'pirates', the vessels final breakup on Inderabia, and claims that the wreck was plundered. It further reports that Shaikh Abder Rayzack of Inderabia, and the inhabitants of the island failed to render assistance to the boat, instead preferring to plunder the wreck; the inhabitants of Jezza; Shaikh Hassan of Congoon, and Nackodah Jaffer are also specifically mentioned in relation to the plundering of the wreck.
