The letter is reporting that Shaikh Sultan ben Suggur [Sulṭān bin Saqr] has violated a promise made to the Resident indicating that he would not send troops to the aid of Lingah [Bandar-e-Lengeh]. It explains that 500 troops have been dispatched under the guise of evacuating women and children.
It further reports that Shaikh Syf ben Nubhan – believed by the Resident to be the instigator of the advance on Lingah – has threatened to attack Shargah [Sharjah] by sea if Shaikh Sultan ben Suggur sends aid to Lingah; it is noted that the Resident has indicated that the British will not permit such an attack to take place.
