The letter is informing the Lieutenant that he has been appointed Assistant to the Resident in the Persian Gulf, though it instructs him not to leave Bombay until he has completed a special duty for the Military Auditor General. It further notes that the appointment is dependant upon him completing an examination in Arabic.
It is noted that a copy of this letter (No. 2315 of 1852) has been sent to the Resident in the Persian Gulf for his information.
