- The letter is acknowledging the receipt of a communication from the Resident — No. 15 dated 28 April 1838 — on the subject of kidnapping slaves from the coast of Burburra [Berbera]. In response, it conveys the approval of the Governor of Bombay over the agreement the Resident has reached with the Joasmees [Āl Qāsimī], which permits British cruizers to search and detain their vessels if found transporting slaves.
