- Title:
- Letter from Abraham Nickson Hojel, Bombay to Edward Hope Percival, Private Secretary to the Governor of Bombay
- Scope & Content:
-
Letter informing Percival that should the Governor of Bombay be willing to appoint him as Residency Surgeon he would gladly go to the Persian Gulf, with the hope of obtaining one of the Assistanship positions later should they be sanctioned. The letter notes however that in taking up the position as residency surgeon he would be considerably worse off than in his current position in Bombay and that it would only be worthwhile should he eventually obtain one of the Assistantships.
Enclosed with the letter are copies of earlier correspondence:
- Letter from Abraham Hojel Nickson, Bombay to Edward Hope Percival, Private Secretary to the Governor of Bombay, 10 May 1866 requesting to be considered as an application for the position of second assistant to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, and proposing that if appropriate he could also act as Residency Surgeon in this position.
- Letter from Edward Hope Percival, Ma'bleshwar to Abraham Hojel Nickson 12 May 1866 informing him that his letter had been submitted to the Governor of Bombay who was awaiting a response from Colonel Lewis Pelly before responding.
- Letter from Edward Hope Percival, Mahableshwar to Abraham Hojel Nickson 14 May 1866 informing him that the assistantship positions had not been sanctioned as yet and enquiring whether he would consider the position of Residency Surgeon at Bushire pending the decision from Government on the assistantships.
