Covering note forwarding the enclosed letters for Government's information and stating that the whole of Captain Harrison's report has been forwarded as he considered it to be satisfactory and that nothing contained within it called for the discredit expressed by Colonel Phayre in his letter.
- Letter No.1149 of 1870 from Colonel Robert Phayre, The Political Superintendent, Frontier Upper Sind, Jacobabad to William Lockyer Merewether, Colonel, The Commissioner in Sind, Kurrachee [Karāchi], 12 August 1870 forwarding letter No.35, 13 July 1870, from Captain Charles Henry Harrison and stating his opinion of the information contained within it, including of some of the paragraphs giving a one-sided view of matters which could be misconstrued by authorities.
- Letter No.35 of 1870 from Charles Henry Harrison, Political Agent, Khelat [Kalāt], to Colonel Robert Phayre, The Political Superintendent, Upper Sind Frontier, 13 July 1870 reporting on arrangements entered into with the principal men of the Mingul tribe by the Khan of Khelat, including their having been forced into hostile acts against the Khan by their Sirdar Noordeen and a request for a new Sirdar to be appointed; the Khan's response that he would consider the matter and that if appropriate he would select Meah Mahomed, and that to prove their good intentions he wished them to protect the Kafila route through their country and protect it, as well as helping to redress any grievances made by merchants. The Khan then proposed that Meah Mahomed be responsible for the route between Khelat and Wud, and that Morad Ali and Esan Khan be responsible for it from Wud to Sonmeanee [Sonmiani], to which the tribe agreed.
