The collection consists of the following small collections of papers:
- Coll 1, Public letter received from India, No.17 of 1858, dated 22 November 1858, transmitting copies of Minutes containing an expression of opinion in regard to the proceedings of W Tayler respecting the Industrial Institution at Patna.
- Coll 2, Public letter received from India, No.35 of 1858, dated 24 December 1858, transmitting correspondence with the Government of Bengal on the subject of W Tayler's proceedings in connection with the Industrial Institution at Patna.
- Coll 3, Public letter received from India, No.13 of 1859, dated 22 January 1859, transmitting correspondence with the Government of Bengal relating to W Tayler's application for a copy of the Lieutenant Governor's Minute of the 17th March 1858.
- Coll 4, Public letter received from India, No.32 of 1859, dated 9 March 1859, transmitting further correspondence showing that W Tayler was anxious to submit a defence of his conduct in connection with the Patna Industrial Institution.
- Coll 5, Printed copy of "Correspondence regarding the Patna Industrial Institution" (Calcutta: John Gray, "Calcutta Gazette" Office, 1858).
- Coll 6, Public letter received from India, No.93 of 1858, dated 29 July 1858, transmitting correspondence and Minutes arising our of a complaint made by W Tayler against E A Samuells, Commissioner of Patna, for having made certain serious charges against him in an official communication to the Government of Bengal.
- Coll 7, Public letter received from India, No.34 of 1858, dated 24 December 1858, transmitting further correspondence with W Tayler, and the Government of Bengal, relating to that gentleman's complaint against E A Samuells, Commissioner of Patna.
- Coll 8, Public letter received from India, No.23 of 1859, dated 18 February 1859, transmitting communications from the Government of Bengal, and of their respective enclosures from Messrs Tayler and Samuells, relative to the emeute which occurred at Patna in July 1857.
- Coll 9, Public letter received from India, No.35 of 1859, dated 15 March 1859, transmitting further correspondence and Minutes on the subject of W Tayler's complaint against E A Samuells.
- Coll 10, Public letter received from India, No.53 of 1859, dated 29 April 1859, transmitting further correspondence with the Government of Bengal containing E A Samuells' defence of his conduct with reference to the Patna Industrial School. Includes tabular statements of the evidence in the case of Peer Ali Khan and others.
