The collection contains the following small collections of papers relating to the Indian Mutiny:
- Coll 1, Public letter received from India, No.26 of 1859, dated 21 February 1859, forwarding papers relating to the disarming of the District of Shahabad, and the gradual withdrawal of the several Indian Naval Brigades serving in the Lower Provinces of Bengal.
- Coll 2, Public letter received from India, No.27 of 1859, dated 22 February 1859, forwarding a special narrative, furnished by the Government of Bengal, reporting events connected with the revolt in the Lower Provinces for the week ending the 29th January 1859.
- Coll 3, Public letter received from India, No.36 of 1859, dated 21 March 1859, forwarding a memorandum showing the operations adopted for disarming the population of the North Western Provinces; circulars calling for a weekly return of offensive weapons collected in each Division and the registration of pardoned mutineers and deserters; correspondence regarding the narrative by A Money, Collector and Magistrate of Shahabad, of his interview with the rebels near Jugdespore [Jagdispur] (forwarded with letter No.30, dated 21st December 1858); and further papers regarding the grant of a Jagir to Mr Boyle, an Engineer in the service of the East India Railway Company, as reward for rendering valuable assistance in the defence of the station of Arrah in Shahabad District.
- Coll 5, Public letter received from India, No.49 of 1859, dated 20 April 1859, forwarding reports regarding the incursion of rebels into the Banda District, and the murder of two Railway Engineers Messrs Evans and Limnell during an attack on the railway camp near Pathri Ghat; correspondence regarding the measures adopted by A Money, Collector and Magistrate of Shahabad, for disarming the Shahabad District; and a report from Captain E T Dalton, Commissioner of Chota Nagpore, regarding the surrender and capture of all the principal leaders among the Palamow [Palamau] insurgents.
