Three reports upon the medical topography of the Nilgiri Hills submitted by Assistant Surgeon John Jones; Assistant Surgeon W Stoddart; and Assistant Surgeon Reginald Orton, including a table showing the boiling point of water at various altitudes throughout the Nilgiris; and a table comparing temperatures recorded at the Nilgiris with those recorded at Madras, based on information recorded by Lieutenant Macpherson in Jackanary, and data taken from the meteorological register at Madras Observatory.
Reports forwarded by the Medical Board to the Governor in Council, recommending that hospital tents for 50 men and a certain number of Gentlemen from the public service be established in the Nilgiris, overseen by 10 or so European military men drawn from Trichinopoly, Quilon, Cannanore and Bangalore, plus an Assistant Surgeon. Order that the appended temperature table be published in the Gazette.
