pp 2715-2838. Communication from the Medical Board to the Governor in Council, discussing the medico-topographical surveys conducted in the hills, comparing them to Bangalore and the Nilgiris, and recommending that the surveys be discontinued. The Board forward the following:
- An anonymous article taken from the Madras Press, regarding the topography, climate and ethnography of the Shivarai [Shevaroy] hills, including a register of temperature during the month of June 1822;
- Medico-topographical report of the Shevaroy Hills by J Richmond, Zillah Surgeon, dated 24 Apr 1823 and including a register of temperatures recorded from Jun 1822-Feb 1823;
- Medico-topographical report of the Chundamungalam hills, signed Surgeon James Kellie and Superintending Surgeon W Prichard;
- Extracts from a Journal of a Hospital Inspections Tour, by Superintending Surgeon James Wyse, dated 29 Apr 1825;
- Medical and topographical report of the Sherwary Hills near Salem, including meteorological tables for 1824 and Mar-Jun 1825, by Assistant Surgeon William Fasken, dated 24 Jun 1825.
- Half yearly report of Nhielgherries [Nilgiris], signed Assistant Surgeon James G Coleman, dated 01 Jul 1824;
Plus resolution of the Governor in Council to discontinue the survey of the Shevory and Chundamungalam hills.
