Letter from the Madras Medical Board, forwarding for information a letter from Surgeon Wise, and requesting that the actions of the Rajah - Zemindar Vassareddy Vencatadry Naidoo - be publicised, in the hope of convincing other locals of high standing to promote inoculation.
Enclosed letter from Surgeon Henry Wise to the Medical Board, providing details of inoculation at Guntoor [Guntur], stating that over 10,000 had been inoculated between 1790 and 1801, and describing the methods used by the inoculators; the practice of inoculating during the hot season; and the refusal to inoculate pregnant women, or those suffering from chronic cutaneous disease.
