pp 213-340. Correspondence and reports regarding the compilation of a revised Indian Pharmacopoeia to be published in England.
- Discusses the ongoing suitability of Waring's Pharmacopoeia (1868) and Mohideen Sheriff's supplement (1869).
- Several reports received providing detailed lists of Indian drugs for inclusion or exclusion from the work, giving details of scientific and vernacular names, parts or preparations used, dosage, Western equivalents, and remarks.
pp 297-327 consists of a draft preface and extracts from the proposed Pharmacopoeia, providing details of 46 plants.
pp 329-40 correspondence between the Indian Medical Service, the Government of India and the Secretary of State for India. Opinion of the Government of India that neither a revised Indian Pharmacopoeia nor an Indian Materia Medica are called for, rather that investigations into the properties and usefulness of native drugs should be continued, and that committees of medical officers formed by each Presidency should compile and publish the results of research.
