Replies by Jellicoe - headed (f. 1) 'Part I' - to criticisms, made chiefly in published works, of Jellicoe’s actions in pre-War days, while commanding the Grand Fleet including during the Battle of Jutland, and as First Sea Lord; 1923-1927, n.d. Mostly typewritten with autograph corrections. Replies consist of:
-Two drafts (ff. 1-60 and 61-105) responding to criticisms made by Sir Winston Churchill in The World Crisis, vols. i-ii, 1923.
-Two drafts (ff. 106-113) by Jellicoe of ‘The Battle of Jutland’ giving his account of the difficulties confronting him as Commander-in-Chief of The Grand Fleet at the Battle of Jutland.
-Two drafts (ff. 114-174) by Jellicoe of ‘The Admiralty Narrative of The Battle of Jutland’ giving his opinion of the Narrative of the Battle of Jutland, 1924. Folios 167-174 of the second draft can be found in Part II.
