50: This collection consists of two small collections of papers, marked Coll 1 and Coll 2, on the proposed establishment of a School of Medicine and Surgery at Lahore, and the appointment of a Chemical Examiner in the Punjab, July 1857 to October 1858. Includes a printed copy of the following three pamphlets: "On the Function of Salt in Agriculture" by A Beauchamp Northcote, Senior Assistant in the Royal College of Chemistry, from the Philosophical Magazine for September 1855; "On the Brine-Springs of Worcestershire" by A Beauchamp Northcote, Senior Assistant in the Royal College of Chemistry, from the Philosophical Magazine for January 1855; and "On the Constitution of Allophane" by Augustus Beauchamp Northcote, Senior Assistant in the Royal College of Chemistry, from the Philosophical Magazine for May 1857.
42: This collection contains the following small collections of papers relating to the Indian Mutiny:
- Coll 2, Printed petition of the inhabitants of Calcutta praying for the recall of Lord Canning, with remarks thereon by the Governor General in Council, and the reply of the Petition Committee, June 1857 to June 1858.
- Coll 3, Letter from Lord Canning, Governor General of India, to the Court of Directors of the East India Company, No.23, dated 6th July 1858, stating the decided and effective support received by him from the members of the Council of India.
- Coll 4, Narrative of events submitted by the Government of the North Western Provinces for the week ending 31st May 1858.
- Coll 5, Narrative of events submitted by the Government of the North Western Provinces from the 31st May to the 27th June 1858, together with the following papers: Letter from Robert Alexander, Commissioner of Rohilkhand, dated 2nd June 1858, reporting measures taken for dispensing the rebels in cetain Pargana of Zillah Budaun, pending the return of the troops from Mohomdee; Diary of Robert Alexander, Commissioner of Rohilkhand, for the week ending 19th June 1858, with correspondence regarding the reward of 50,000 rupees for Moulvie Ahmed Oolla Shah; Letter from Captain F W Pinkney, Commissioner of Jhansi Division, dated 5th June 1858, reporting the state of things in and around Jhansi; Letter from Captain F W Pinkney, Commissioner of Jhansi Division, dated 6th June 1858, reporting that Major Orr had received orders from Sir H Rose to proceed with the Hyderabad Contingent via Jhansi towards Gwalior, leaving the Jhansi District without any troops to move around to put down bands of plunderers; Narrative of important events which had occurred in the Benares Division during the weeks ending 5th June 1858 and 19th June 1858; List submitted by the Magistrates of Fatehpur, Cawnpore and Allahabad showing the number of Government officials killed and wounded, and taken prisoner by the insurgents since the outbreak; Narrative for the weeks ending 12th June 1858, 19th June 1858 and 26th June 1858 from C Wingfield, Commissioner of Gorakhpur; Letter from William Muir, Secretary to the Government of the North Western Provinces, to G F Harvey, Commissioner of Agra, dated 2nd July 1858, regarding the surrender of Tej Singh, ex-Rajah of Mainpuri, his future residence, and the measures to be taken to send him on to Benares.

- Coll 7, Narrative of events submitted by the Government of the North Western Provinces for the week ending 11th July 1858.
- Coll 8, Narrative of events submitted by the Government of the North Western Provinces for the week ending 18th July 1858, together with the following papers: Weekly narrative of events in the Azamgarh District from the 2nd to the 8th July 1858; Letter from the Commissioner of Gorakhpur, No.206 of 14th July 1858, giving a narrative of events for the week ending 10th July 1858; Narrative of events from the Commissioner of Gorakhpur for the week ending 17th July 1858, and a letter to the Commissioner from W Muir, Secretary to the Government of the North Western Provinces, dated 23rd July 1858, regarding Sir Hope Grant's advance upon Fyzabad; Correspondence with the Commissioner of the Benares Division regarding the state of affairs in the Azamgarh District and the movement of the 7th Regiment Punjab Infantry.

- Coll 19, Letter from J W Sherer, Magistrate of Cawnpore, to C Beadon, Secretary to the Government of India, dated 28th June 1858, reporting that an appendix referred to in the 3rd paragraph of the narrative of the mutiny at Cawnpore, forwarded with letter no.136 of 1857, dated 23rd November 1857, was never compiled. The letter also gives some information regarding the massacre of women at Cawnpore on 15th July 1857.
