The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a title page and a table of contents:
- Coll 1, Expenditure for mats, furniture, etc for the Russapuglah Boarding School, June 1855 to February 1856.
- Coll 2, Claim for compensation by G H Haugh, Head Master of the Government School at Moulmein, for building a residence for himself at Moulmein, January 1837 to March 1856.
- Coll 3 (Vol 1), Papers regarding the maintenance of the Civil Engineering School at Lahore, May 1854 to October 1856. Includes a list of pupils who had qualified themselves at the School of Engineering from 1st February 1853 to 31st March 1855.
- Coll 3 (Vol 2), Papers regarding the allowance for the Civil Engineering School at Lahore, April 1856 to April 1857. Includes a report on the School of Engineering for the year 1855/56, and a list of questions given at the examination on 28th April 1856.
- Coll 4, Permission given for the Moulmein Public Library to occupy a vacant room in the building formerly allowed to the Head Master of the Government School as a residence, November 1855 to June 1856.
- Coll 5, Grant of a nuzzool building to the missionaries at Peshawar for a school house, March 1855 to October 1856. Includes a sketch map of the area.
- Coll 6, Correspondence regarding the Native Library at the Residency Office at Baroda, and the opening of a school in the Cantonment of Baroda, November 1855 to September 1856.
- Coll 7, Correspondence regarding assistance rendered to the Nizam's Minister, Salar Jung Bahadur, in the selection of books for the use of a school which he proposed to establish in the city of Hyderabad, November 1855 to September 1856.
- Coll 8, Correspondence regarding T A Mainwaring's Polyglot or Burmese Dictionary, March 1854 to November 1856.
- Coll 9, Correspondence regarding educational measures in Gujarat and Kathiawar, and the introduction of a system of education for the people in the territory of the Gaikwar of Baroda, April 1856 to January 1857.
- Coll 10, Grant of 2,000 rupees for demonstrative apparatus for the Medical School at Hyderabad, and also for the establishment of a public hospital in connection with the school, December 1855 to January 1857. Includes a report of the annual inspection of the Hyderabad Medical School held on the 27th November 1855.
- Coll 11, Report on the result of the examination held on the 27th November 1855 of the students of the Hyderabad Medical School, with related correspondence, January 1856 to January 1857.
- Coll 12, Correspondence regarding the Hyderabad Medical Journal, edited by Dr G Smith, Residency Surgeon, March 1856 to January 1857. Includes a copy of issue No.2 (1856) of the Journal.
- Coll 13, Annual report of the Indore School for 1854/55, maintained by the Maharaja Tukoji Rao Holkar Bahadur. The report includes a list of teachers in the city of Indore, the subjects they teach, place of instruction and number of pupils.
- Coll 14, Solicitation by S W Fallon, Head Master of Agra College, for the patronage of Government to his projected Anglo-Hindustani Law and Commercial Dictionary of words and phrases, May 1856 to January 1857.
- Coll 15 (Vol 1), Memorial from American Baptist missionaries in Pegu praying for a grant in aid to the Karen Normal School, November 1855 to April 1857.
- Coll 15 (Vol 2), Application by Mrs Ellen H B Mason, the wife of an American missionary in Pegu, for a grant in aid to a National Institute for Burmese and Karen females which she proposed to establish at Toungoo, February to October 1857.
- Coll 15 (Vol 3), Correspondence regarding the grants in aid to schools in the Province of Pegu, October 1856 to October 1857. The schools in question were the Vernacular Normal schools at Henzada and Bassein, and the Anglo-Vernacular Normal School at Kemmendine.
- Coll 16 (Vol 1), Memorial from Thomas Allen and Edmund B Cross, American Baptist missionaries, praying for grants in aid to the Tavoy Mission School and the Tavoy Karen School, March 1856 to April 1857.
- Coll 16 (Vol 2), Application by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Moulmein for a grant in aid to two Roman Catholic Mission schools, June 1856 to April 1857.
- Coll 16 (Vol 3), Application by Colonel Sir Archibald Bogle, Commissioner of the Tenasserim and Martaban Provinces, for an increase to the Establishment of the Government school at Moulmein, February to October 1857.
- Coll 16 (Vol 4), Correspondence regarding a grant to the Karen Normal School at Tavoy, November 1856 to February 1858.
- Coll 17, Correspondence regarding a scheme of education for Mysore and Coorg, July 1856 to June 1857.
- Coll 18, Correspondence regarding the results of an experiment in training pupils at the Lawrence Asylum for subordinate appointments in the Public Works Department, July 1856 to July 1857.
- Coll 19, Correspondence regarding the Pushtu Grammar by Major J L Vaughan, Commandant of the 5th Punjab Infantry, July 1856 to July 1857.
- Coll 20, Correspondence sanctioning 400 rupees for 100 copies of a Burmese classic work entitled "Way than dayah" for the Government school at Rangoon, October 1856 to August 1857.
- Coll 21, Bill for books and stationery supplied to the Government school at Rangoon, October 1856 to August 1857.
- Coll 22, Report on the current state and future prospects of the Sehore School, with related correspondence, November 1856 to September 1857.
- Coll 23, Memorandum by G Plowden, Commissioner of Nagpur, proposing the steps to be taken for the diffusion of education amoung all classes within that Province, with related correspondence, February to September 1857.
- Coll 24 (Vol 1), Grant of 400 Beegahs of land at Kotgarh in the Simla District for an experimental farm in connection with the Industrial School conducted by Rev Mr Procknow of the Church Missionary Society, July 1856 to November 1857.
