Communication from the Government of India to the Secretary of State regarding proposed precautionary measures to prevent contagion from cholera and other infectious diseases being conveyed on pilgrim and commercial vessels. Includes discussion of the Turkish Government proposals on the location of a quarantine station, lazaretto, and the placing of a corvette to examine vessels and confirm that they hold a valid health certificate.
Also includes three previous despatches regarding sanitary and quarantine measures: No. 3, dated 15 Feb 1868; No. 30, dated 10 Aug 1869; and No. 3, dated 27 Jan 1870, including correspondence between Indian and Ottoman authorities on the proposed sanitary and quarantine regulations, plus copy Rules for the enforcement of the provisions of Government of India Acts I and XII of 1870 at Aden, plus Quarantine Regulations [translated from the French].
