Tomb (of Saif-ud-din?) and mosque at Sojali, near Mehmdabad, Gujarat. Photographer: (?)Thomas Biggs.
- Scope & Content:
-
9" x 6½" glass negative.
General view looking towards the domed brick-built tomb, with a gateway and minarets of the mosque to the right. This photograph does not appear in the List of photographic negatives belonging to the India Office. 1894, nor in Theodor Bloch's, A list of the photographic negatives of Indian antiquities in the collection of the Indian Museum: with which is incorporated the list of similar negatives in the possession of the the India Office (Calcutta: 1900). It can, however, be identified as the tomb (probably of Saif-ud-din) situated about 150 metres south-west of the Rauza of Mubarak Sayyid at Sojali, near Mehmdabad. Only a single minaret of the mosque now (2016) remains. Photograph probably taken by Thomas Biggs on the same occasion as Photo 1000/7(825).
