Do-Ta-Ussu. In the yurt of a Mongol official, a Chahar, who lives five miles or so east of Larson's place, 'White Court Temple.' Left to right, Larson, Ronggnye Bell, Charles Bell, and a brother of this Mongol official. The yurt is one of five or six set in a row, and surrounded ata considerable distance by a high wall, which thus forms a spacious courtyard round the yurts. In right front is a fireplace, a circular brazier in which argols are burnt, both for cooking the food and for warming the yurt. In summer the fire is made outside, in the courtyard. Above this brazier there is a hole in the roof of the yurt for letting out the smoke. Photographer: Unknown
