View looking across the tank towards a gopura and central shrine beyond. Lyon's 'Notes to accompany a series of photographs prepared to illustrate the ancient architecture of Southern India' (Marion and Co., London, 1870), edited by James Fergusson, gives the following brief description of this photograph: '368 - About five miles from Tripatoor is situated Tircoostioor, a small village, with a very fine tank in front of the temple, as shown in this view.'
