A collection of 68 lantern slides, the majority hand-coloured, of famine scenes: emaciated victims, dead bodies, famine relief camps and work, distribution of food, etc. The precise date and location of the famine here depicted has not been identified. A number of the original negatives from which these slides were made can be found in Photo 262/1. One box contains six slides of European family portraits unconnected with the famine views: these presumably are portraits of Sheffield family members.
