Close view of sculptured figure. 'Outside in front of the temple stand two splendid life-sized statues of dvarapalas, or possibly chiefs, with elaborate and voluminous curly wigs in four rows of horizontal curls, the lowest resting on the shoulder. These are similar to that at the Rama temple at Sirpur and on the tank at Arang. They have lotus halos around the head.' ('Progress Report of the Archaeological Survey of Western India, for the year ending 30th June 1904', p. 26).
