- Title:
- Annexe Numéro 5A. SKETCH MAP OF THE PERSIAN GULF AND ARABIAN COAST
- Scope & Content:
-
The map shows part of the Persian Gulf and part of the Arabian coast. The map also indicates settlements, with brief descriptions of topography and vegetation. A short note beneath the title gives the scale of the map at 1 inch to 60 miles. A reference note gives the key to the route of the Indo-European overland and submarine telegraph line as well as the roads which are marked on the map.
The map also features a line drawn in blue ink from just west of the Qatar peninsula down to the 20 degree horizontal line in the 'Rub-al-Khalia'. The blue line represents the 'blue line' (the frontier which marked the Ottoman Government's renunciation of its claims to Bahrain and Qatar, laid down in the non-ratified Anglo-Ottoman Convention of 1913 and redefined and adopted in the Anglo-Ottoman Convention of the following year). The map bears the words '(Sd) E. Grey. (Sd) I. Hakky.' in the bottom right hand corner.
Regions identified include: 'Hadramaut; Ruba'-al-Khalia; Oman; Oman proper'.
The map bears the printing statement 'Harrison and Sons Ltc, St Martins Lane, W.C.'
