Group portrait of women arranged in two rows: 'In the south-east of Tibet is the rugged country of Po, merging into the Himalaya. Its people are partly Himalayan, partly of the Tibetan uplands. They are a strudy, lawless folk, almost independent of the Lhasa Government, but greatly under the influence of the Holy City' (The People of Tibet, p. 177).
