Close view of the roots of an upturned tree, with a European man seated on the fallen trunk. The photograph was taken in the Botanical Gardens: the circular pavilion partially seen in the background is General Kyd's Memorial. With pencilled note, 'Mah.' (mahogany) on album page. Photograph uncredited, but tentatively attributed to F. W. Baker, who is known to have taken a series of views of the cyclone (see Sothebys Photograph Sale, 2 May 1997, lot 327, for an album of views by Baker showing cyclone damage).
