Formally posed group of Tibetans and Europeans. Some identifications are pencilled on the back of the print, but a fuller key to the sitters can be found in the article by W.H. King entitled The Telegraph to Lhasa (Geographical Journal, vol 63 no. 6, June 1924, pp. 527-31), where this photograph is reproduced. In the front row are seated, left to right, W.H. King (in charge of laying the telegraph), Tsarong Shapé (Commander-in-Chief), Ngappa Shapé (Civil Member of Council), Parkhang Shapé (Lama Member of Council). Standing behind are Mr Kyipok (Tibetan Director of Telegraphs) and Willoughby Patrick Rosemeyer (telegraph engineer).
