- Scope & Content:
-
This manuscript contains a group of patristic texts which have been glossed in both Latin and Old English. Most of the glosses seem to be contemporary, with a few eleventh-century glosses (Ker, Catalogue (1957), p. 304). The style of the initials suggest that the manuscript was written at Christ Church, Canterbury in the late tenth century (Wormald, Collected Writings (1984), p. 73). Musical notation and an exercise in Latin comparatives and superlatives, written in later, protogothic hands, were added at blank spaces at the beginning and end of the folios.
Contents:
ff. 3-24v: Prosper, Epigrammata ex sententiis S. Augustini [Clavis Patrum Latinorum, no. 526] and Versus ad coniugem [Clavis Patrum Latinorum, no.531];
ff. 25-53r: Isidore, Synonyma de lamentatione animae peccatricis [Clavis Patrum Latinorum, no. 1203]
Decoration: zoomorphic initial with interlace in green, red and black, foliate initial in red, initial with a zig-zag pattern in green and red (f. 3r); pointing manicula (ff. 40v, 50r, 52r); initials in red and black and rubrication throughout.

ff 2r-55v:
Origin: Christ Church, Canterbury, late tenth century. The decoration of the initials resembles other manuscripts from Christ Church from that period (Wormald, Collected Writings (1984), p. 73). Bishop associated the manuscript with his 'Scribe XX' from Canterbury, to whom he also attributed Royal MS 15 B. XIX, Royal MS 5 E XI, Bodleian Library MS Hatton 42, and Paris, Bibliothèque nationale lat. 14380 (Bishop, 'Notes on Cambridge Manuscripts Part VI', p. 423; Bishop, English Caroline, p. xxvi).
